Polly has had her babies (5) this morning, just leaving her quietly in a small box with them, she looks a little shocked and scared of them, but at least they are all fine.

I have been to the Dorking show today, and Maxwell won Best New & Emerging Variety out of 10, so proud of him, he is a super pig. Well done Maxwell! Nothing much for Mozart today, he came third in his breed class and Maxwell was first. Also Polly looks as if she is about to have her babies from Mozart, sooner than I thought, think it might be any day now.

I have had a brilliant day at the Fareham Cavy Club show. I have at last won a trophy for best New Variety.
This time it was Mozart that came up trumps, he came first and my lovely little cinnamon chin sow Lulu came third out of 12, so very, very pleased with them both. This time they both beat their dad Maxwell!
Here is a link to photos of the best pigs at the Fareham show, taken by Lyndon, on the SCC website. There is one of Mozart.

Pickle had her babies very early this morning, unfortunately I missed it and found 2 babies DOA, great shame they were lemon chins.
Anyway she had 4 altogether and the other two are pale silver chins, 1 boar and 1 sow and very sweet.
I will get some photos tomorrow.

I had a great day and the Worthing & Eastergate show today. Had a clean sweep with chinchillas.
Maxwell came first and won Best New Variety
Lulu came second
Mozart came third, out of 7 in the class, so over the moon with these three, especially with Lulu, her first show, and I was told by the judge that she almost beat her dad Maxwell!!

Lovely news this morning, Cleo has had her babies. She had them about 8.30 am, as I had already checked her about 7.15 am and she had not had them then. She has had 4, 2 silver chin sows, one white/lilac argente sow and a pe white boar. They are very sweet and all a good size.
Will get some pictures later on.

I had a lovely day at the Dorking Cavy Club show, great chatting to friends as usual. Mozart did well in his class, 1st in the New Variety 5/8 months, and lovely Luke had a great day, he came 2nd in the New Variety Adult class out of 8 and then was 2nd Best New Variety out of 13 in the challenge, so I think this is his best result, well done Luke, he beat Maxwell today!
Also another surprise when I cam home, Glitter has had her babies, she has had 3, but they are all white, 1 sow and 2 boars and no chins, just my luck.
But at least they are all ok and all a good size, they are bigger already than the babies from Lilly's recent litter, all over 100 g.

Lovely surprise when I opened Lilly's hutch this morning, 5 very cute little babies looking up at me, they are so sweet.
2 lemon chins
2 silver chins
1 overmarked fox
Will get some pictures later on.

Had a lovely day today at Mid Sussex Cavy Club show, Maxwell (The Brick) won best Non Standardised out of 11 pigs, so very pleased with him, well done Maxwell.

Here is Luke being judged.

Now the sad news, when I came home I found Shadow dead, very sad, he did seem a bit quiet this morning and not himself, a real shame. RIP Shadow.

Great news, Lola has had her babies early this morning. She has had four good size babies, one self choc sow, one choc and white boar, a de white boar, and at last a cinnamon chinchilla sow.
I am so pleased, I have been waiting for a chin sow for ages. They all look healthy and are following mum around already. Good old Maxwell, he does produce some lovely big babies.

Milly has had her babies this afternoon. She has had a black fox sow and a golden agouti boar.
Both are very large, pictures to follow.

I had a lovely day at the Dorking show today and a super result. Leia won Best New Variety and Maxwell came third out of 13 entries. Well done to both of them.

Well I had some lovely news today. I went to my local vets with the cat Josie and found out that my argente sow Lucy is alive and well and living with a friend and is now called Miss Pigglie. I did agree with the vet in June when I took Lucy there, that it was ok for one of the nurses to try and save her if they could. Seems Lucy pulled through, so I am very happy she is all ok and enjoying her new life.

Well I had a lovely day at the Fareham show yesterday, and great news, Maxwell won Best New Variety at the RVCC show out of 22 pigs, he is a real star. Here is a picture of all the chinchillas being judged.
The chins from left to right are, Nikki Rich's sow, Leia, Luke, Maxwell, Lewis and a sow from Caroline Creese.

I am not having much luck. Beauty had to be PTS while I was on holiday, her babies had died inside her, and also today my lovely argente sow Pip died. I took Pip to have her teeth checked yesterday as she was not eating properly and dribbling. The vet decided to give her some gas to operate on her teeth as they were quite bad. She seemed ok at first after the operation but this afternoon went down hill very quickly and died.
The vet thought there must have been something else wrong with her we did not know about, and I think it may have been a kidney/heart related problem as she was drinking a lot of water. I will miss Pip alot, but she has gone to be with her mum Squeak, the terrible 2-some back together.
15/7/09
My black sow Beauty is pregnant, but I am very concerned about her, she has become really snuffly. She has had it a bit on and off, and I thought this would be just because she was black and has a very short nose, but it now seems to be a lot worse. I am taking her to the vet tomorrow to see what he thinks. I have been giving her some septrin antibiotic along with some garlic and vick on her nose, but these do not seem to have helped.
29/6/09
I decided to have Lucy PTS at the vets today, she was really not eating or drinking and looking very unhappy. She would not let me feed her either even though I tried and gave her pain killer, antibiotics and the Liquid Life Aid, nothing seemed to help. She looked so unhappy I thought it was best for her, very sad.
On a brighter note Lunar is looking after Lucy's babies really well, they are feeding from her and she seems very happy with them. Hopefully they will be ok.
28/6/09
Not a good day today, Lunar had her babies, 2 huge ones, but both of them born dead, what a great shame.
Lunar had one white teddy boar weighing 160g and a silver chinchilla sow weighing 150g.
I think they are the biggest babies I have ever had, poor Lunar. I stayed up with her very late last night, but I wish she had given birth while I was there, I could have helped her, typical!!! Also the tiny baby of Lucy's died this morning and Lucy is still not eating, she looks very unhappy, it must be tox.
I have put the 2 remaining babies in with Lunar, she has lots of milk, and Lucy is in with Beauty. Thing must get better soon.
24/6/09
Lucy has had her babies, she has had 5 but unfortunately 2 were dead.
Lucy has been off colour for a couple of days, so I have been hand feeding her and keeping and eye on her, she could possibly have toxaemia, I hope not.
One of the babies is a self lilac sow and quite a good size, the other 2 are golden/lilac argentes but a bit small, especially one of them, so I may have to hand feed them. I hope they will all be ok.
16/6/09
Mandy has had 3 babies this afternoon about 12.30 pm. They are all boars and no dalmatians.
There is one chocolate/golden agouti and 2 chinchillas which I think are cinnamon chins, but I am not sure, they look too light to be silver chins. The agouti is quite small only 74g, but the chinchilla boars are big, one weighs 114g and the other 104g, they are lovely and chunky.
I will put some pictures up later.
9/6/09
Lunar is pregnant!!! Bit of a shock, I think Maxwell is the father, and I think there is only one baby. Hope Lunar will be ok as she has not had a litter for a while and I thought she was barren!!
Babies (below) still feeding from the spoon and growing very well, they are so cute. They are starting to eat more of the hard food/greens, so hopefully they will not be so dependent on the milk.
5/6/09
Here is a picture of Jackie's babies I am hand rearing. They have just had some of their milk from a spoon. They seem to be feeding well but not really growing much yet, so hope they will be ok.
1/6/09
My friend Jackie had a horrible day yesterday, she lost a sow to a prolapse uterus when the sow had 3 babies. One large baby was dead but there are 2 very cute babies left. A very sweet chocolate self sow and a black dalmatian boar. I am going to hand rear them for her, could be a long job, but I will try. I have put them in with Leia and Tango who both took to them straight away, very sweet.
These babies are related to many of my pigs, these include, Aero, Jack and Crystal, and also Jackie's fox boar that I have used, Pedro. Well I will try my best, and hope they will be ok.
