Great news tonight, Milly has had her babies.   Two lovely chunky boars, one black and tan dalmatian like Milly and one golden agouti, both very cute and large!!!   Here is a picture.

23/8/10

Very sad news today, Crunchie aborted her babies over a week early, I found 5 dead babies in the hutch this morning.   I new something was not quite right as Crunchie had lost some blood, so maybe there was something wrong with one of the babies and it had died.  Well she is still in with Munchie, so maybe some babies from her later in November.

15/8/10

A great day again at the Dorking Cavy Club show, Mozart won Best New Variety out of 6 and we also won a rosette and a little shield.   He is such a good boy, well done Mozart.

9/8/10
I had a lovely day at the Fareham Cavy Club show yesterday and came home with the most rosettes I have ever won, a total of 6 in all and lots of cards!!
Here are my best results.  Puff:   2nd Best Adult Exhibitors Pet u/5 months out of 21.  Molly:  1st Best Adult Exhibitors Pet u/5 m out of 21 and also 3rd Best Adult Exhibitors Pet Any Age out of 102!!!     Mozart:  Best Chinchilla and also Best New & Emerging Variety Challenge out of 10.

Here are a couple of Lyndon's photos taken at Fareham.

The sow on the right in this photo came 3rd, she is Mozart's niece and is daughter of Magnus.  She belongs to Alan Tier.

11/7/10
I have had a lovely day at the Mid Sussex Cavy Club show today and a brilliant result.   Mozart won the Best New & Emerging Challenge out of 6 and his sister Lulu came 2nd, so very proud of both of these two, following in Maxwell's footsteps.

3/7/10

Another lovely day at the North Herts Cavy Club show in Sandon.   Lulu won her 5/8 m class and then went on to come 2nd in the New & Emerging Variety Challenge out of 6, so very pleased with her, well done Lulu.

19/6/10

I had a lovely day at the Worthing & Eastergate show at Parham today, great to see everyone again, but seemed very quiet without Maxwell!!   Lulu did well and came 2nd in the New & Emerging Variety Challenge, so very pleased with her, beating her brother Mozart today.

5/6/10

I cannot believe my week could be worse, after losing Lilly, well here is the bad news, Maxwell "The Brick" has died.!!!    I am devastated!!!

1/6/10

Well after trying to help Lilly at the vets on Saturday, she really has not picked up over the weekend and I have decided to have her PTS.    She is not eating at all, won't let me feed her by hand, it is definitely tox, how I hate this condition.    I think unforunately having 6 babies inside her and going through the hot weather last weekend must have caused it, it is a real shame, a really lovely sow.  RIP Lilly.

On a good note, her babies are still holding their own, I am hand feeding them and they have gone to live with their Granny Pickle.  She is looking after them really well, chatting away to them and believe it or not, has started to produce some milk, what a surprise, I have never had this before!!

30/5/10

Had a great day at Kent Cavy Club show today, and Maxwell won Best New & Emerging Variety out of 12, he is a real star.   Munchie did well also today and won his pet class and came home with his first rosette.   Here is Maxwell on the judging table, thanks for the photo Paula.

On a sad note, Lilly is not well, took her to the vet yesterday, but I am sure she has tox and I am having to hand feed her two babies, she looked very sorry for herself when I came home, so I may have to take her to the vet again on Tuesday, great shame.

27/5/10

Lilly has had her babies this morning, and amazingly another litter of 6!!    She was very quiet yesterday, I was a bit worried about her, she was not eating very much.   Well unfortunately I found 3 DOA still in their sacks, another was very cold and I tried to warm him up , but he died,  so there are 2 left, 1 silver chin boar and one cream chin sow, both very cute and huge surprisingly.

9/5/10

Well I had a lovely day at Dorking Cavy Club show, which made up for my sad day on Friday.   Maxwell did extremely well again and won the Best New Variety out of 7 with Lulu coming 3rd.   Well done to both of them.

7/5/10

Very sad day here, Lola is having trouble giving birth to her litter, so far 1 pe white sow, and one DOA chin boar.   I have taken her to the vet, but the outlook is not good, she may have to have a c-section as I think one of the babies is stuck.

I decided to let the vet keep her and signed her and the baby over to them.  They have done a c-section, and removed 4 more dead babies.     So that is another litter with 6, cannot believe it!!   They have told me Lola is awake, but not sure if she will completely recover, I hope she does, a nurse has taken her home.   All in all not a great result.

Now I have lost the little pe white baby in Bounty's litter today also, not a good day, RIP little baby.

3/5/10

Well I had a bit of a surprise this afternoon, I went out to clean out Bounty and found that she had had her babies, a litter of 6.     Bit of a surprise really I did not think they were due for a few more days yet.   They all seem fine, but there is a pe white that looks very small.   The others are all chins and one is a teddy.   Munchie was still with her, so I took him out rather quickly.

24/4/10
I have had a great day at the North Herts show today, Maxwell won Best New & Emerging Variety out of 11 with Lulu coming second, and also Maxwell won the Best New & Emerging Variety on the RVCC show side as well, also out of 11, so very proud of him, well done Maxwell and Lulu.

20/4/10

Glitter has at last had her babies, she had them this afternoon about 5.45 pm.   She had 5, but one was DOA, real shame but the four remaining are all very large.   I think there are three sows and one boar, and they are very cute.

18/4/10
I had a great day at the Epsom Cavy Club show, it was Lulu's turn today, she won Best New Variety out of 8 and came home with 2 lovely rosettes, beating her Dad Maxwell and also her brother Mozart.   This is her best result.     Here she is, looking very proud.

10/4/10

I have also lost the tiny dal baby, found it dead this morning, great shame.    The four remaining do seem to be fine, lets hope they stay that way.

8/4/10

I have unfortunately lost one of Milly's dal babies, I found it dead this morning.     A real shame, I have been feeding all of them some extra milk, but this one would not feed properly and looked very unhappy yesterday.   Four of the babies are definitely feeding from Milly, but one is still very small, so this one is getting lots of extra milk.

3/4/10

Milly has had her babies this afternoon, she has had 6!!!    Unfortunately they are all very small, so not sure if they will all survive.   There are 4 dalmatians, 1 golden agouti and 1 black & tan.   Hope they will be ok.

2/4/10

I am a bit concerned about Minty, he has been to the vet, with what I suspected was a tooth problem, but after x-rays and having his teeth checked, the vet does not have any answers for me.    He is just not swallowing his food, and I have to keep cleaning out his mouth with water, to help his food go down.  All very odd, not sure what to do really, could be fungal in his mouth, so trying some Daktarin gel, but if this does not work, then will have to seriously think about what I am going to do with him.   He has lost some weight and looks unhappy.   The vet told me he has very long tooth roots, she noticed this on the x-rays, which could be causing him pain, so I have also given him some painkiller, but I cannot give him this forever, a real worry!!

Also, Milly looks like her babies are due any day, hope she is going to be ok, she is rather fat!!

28/3/10

I  had a lovely day at the Kent Cavy Club show as usually, and had a lovely result with my 2 chin boars, Mozart beat his dad this time and came 2nd in the New & Emerging challenge out of 15 pigs and Maxwell came 3rd.  Well done boys.

14/3/10
I have had a lovely day at the Worthing & Eastergate show today.   Maxwell won the Best New & Emerging challlenge  out of 9 and Lulu came second, well done to both of them, a great result.    Here is Maxwell on the judging table, and also Maxwell with Lulu, thanks for the photos Lyndon.

26/2/10

Polly has had her babies (5) this morning, just leaving her quietly in a small box with them, she looks a little shocked and scared of them, but at least they are all fine.

21/2/10
I  have been to the Dorking show today, and Maxwell won Best New & Emerging Variety out of 10, so proud of him, he is a super pig.  Well done Maxwell!   Nothing much for Mozart today, he came third in his breed class and Maxwell was first.  Also Polly looks as if she is about to have her babies from Mozart, sooner than I thought, think it might be any day now.

12/12/09
I have had a brilliant day at the Fareham Cavy Club show.   I have at last won a trophy for best New Variety.     This time it was Mozart that came up trumps, he came first and my lovely little cinnamon chin sow Lulu came third out of 12, so very, very pleased with them both.  This time they both beat their dad Maxwell!

Here is a link to photos of the best pigs at the Fareham show, taken by Lyndon, on the SCC website.  There is one of Mozart.

Pickle had her babies very early this morning, unfortunately I missed it and found 2 babies DOA, great shame they were lemon chins.     Anyway she had 4 altogether and the other two are pale silver chins, 1 boar and 1 sow and very sweet.   I will get some photos tomorrow.

6/12/09
I had a great day and the Worthing & Eastergate show today.   Had a clean sweep with chinchillas.
Maxwell came first and won Best New Variety
Lulu came second
Mozart came third, out of 7 in the class, so over the moon with these three, especially with Lulu, her first show, and I was told by the judge that she almost beat her dad Maxwell!!

1/12/09
Lovely news this morning, Cleo has had her babies.   She had them about 8.30 am, as I had already checked her about 7.15 am and she had not had them then.   She has had 4, 2 silver chin sows, one white/lilac argente sow and a pe white boar.  They are very sweet and all a good size.    Will get some pictures later on.

29/11/09
I had a lovely day at the Dorking Cavy Club show, great chatting to friends as usual.  Mozart did well in his class, 1st in the New Variety 5/8 months, and lovely Luke had a great day, he came 2nd in the New Variety Adult class out of 8 and then was 2nd Best New Variety out of 13 in the challenge, so I think this is his best result, well done Luke, he beat Maxwell today!

Also another surprise when I cam home, Glitter has had her babies, she has had 3, but they are all white, 1 sow and 2 boars and no chins, just my luck.    But at least they are all ok and all a good size, they are bigger already than the babies from Lilly's recent litter, all over 100 g.

21/11/09
Lovely surprise when I opened Lilly's hutch this morning, 5 very cute little babies looking up at me, they are so sweet.

2 lemon chins
2 silver chins
1 overmarked fox
Will get some pictures later on.

15/11/09
Had a lovely day today at Mid Sussex Cavy Club show, Maxwell (The Brick) won best Non Standardised out of 11 pigs, so very pleased with him, well done Maxwell.

Here is Luke being judged.

Now the sad news, when I came home I found Shadow dead, very sad, he did seem a bit quiet this morning and not himself, a real shame.  RIP Shadow.

5/9/09
Great news, Lola has had her babies early this morning.   She has had four good size babies, one self choc sow, one choc and white boar, a de white boar, and at last a cinnamon chinchilla sow.     I am so pleased, I have been waiting for a chin sow for ages.   They all look healthy and are following mum around already.   Good old Maxwell, he does produce some lovely big babies.

3/9/09
Milly has had her babies this afternoon.   She has had a black fox sow and a golden agouti boar.   Both are very large, pictures to follow.

16/8/09
I had a lovely day at the Dorking show today and a super result.  Leia won Best New Variety and Maxwell came third out of 13 entries.  Well done to both of them.

13/8/09

Well I had some lovely news today.  I went to my local vets with the cat Josie and found out that my argente sow Lucy is alive and well and living with a friend and is now called Miss Pigglie.   I did agree with the vet in June when I took Lucy there, that it was ok for one of the nurses to try and save her if they could.  Seems Lucy pulled through, so I am very happy she is all ok and enjoying her new life.

10/8/09

Well I had a lovely day at the Fareham show yesterday, and great news, Maxwell won Best New Variety at the RVCC show out of 22 pigs, he is a real star.  Here is a picture of all the chinchillas being judged.
The chins from left to right are, Nikki Rich's sow, Leia, Luke, Maxwell, Lewis and a sow from Caroline Creese.

28/7/09
I am not having much luck.  Beauty had to be PTS while I was on holiday, her babies had died inside her, and also today my lovely argente sow Pip died.  I took Pip to have her teeth checked yesterday as she was not eating properly and dribbling.  The vet decided to give her some gas to operate on her teeth as they were quite bad.  She seemed ok at first after the operation but this afternoon went down hill very quickly and died.    The vet thought there must have been something else wrong with her we did not know about, and I think it may have been a kidney/heart related problem as she was drinking a lot of water.   I will miss Pip alot, but she has gone to be with her mum Squeak, the terrible 2-some back together.

15/7/09
My black sow Beauty is pregnant, but I am very concerned about her, she has become really snuffly.   She has had it a bit on and off, and I thought this would be just because she was black and has a very short nose, but it now seems to be a lot worse.   I am taking her to the vet tomorrow to see what he thinks.   I have been giving her some septrin antibiotic along with some garlic and vick on her nose, but these do not seem to have helped.

29/6/09
I decided to have Lucy PTS at the vets today, she was really not eating or drinking and looking very unhappy.  She would not let me feed her either even though I tried and gave her pain killer, antibiotics and the Liquid Life Aid, nothing seemed to help.   She looked so unhappy I thought it was best for her, very sad.

On a brighter note Lunar is looking after Lucy's babies really well, they are feeding from her and she seems very happy with them.  Hopefully they will be ok.

28/6/09
Not a good day today, Lunar had her babies, 2 huge ones, but both of them born dead, what a great shame.    Lunar had one white teddy boar weighing 160g and a silver chinchilla sow weighing 150g.    I think they are the biggest babies I have ever had, poor Lunar.   I stayed up with her very late last night, but I wish she had given birth while I was there, I could have helped her, typical!!!   Also the tiny baby of Lucy's died this morning and Lucy is still not eating, she looks very unhappy, it must be tox.     I have put the 2 remaining babies in with Lunar, she has lots of milk, and Lucy is in with Beauty.  Thing must get better soon.

24/6/09
Lucy has had her babies, she has had 5 but unfortunately 2 were dead.    Lucy has been off colour for a couple of days, so I have been hand feeding her and keeping and eye on her, she could possibly have toxaemia, I hope not.   One of the babies is a self lilac sow and quite a good size, the other 2 are golden/lilac argentes but a bit small, especially one of them, so I may have to hand feed them.   I hope they will all be ok.

16/6/09
Mandy has had 3 babies this afternoon about 12.30 pm.  They are all boars and no dalmatians.   There is one chocolate/golden agouti and 2 chinchillas which I think are cinnamon chins, but I am not sure, they look too light to be silver chins.  The agouti is quite small only 74g, but the chinchilla boars are big, one weighs 114g and the other 104g, they are lovely and chunky.     I will put some pictures up later.

9/6/09
Lunar is pregnant!!!  Bit of a shock, I think Maxwell is the father, and I think there is only one baby.   Hope Lunar will be ok as she has not had a litter for a while and I thought she was barren!!

Babies (below) still feeding from the spoon and growing very well, they are so cute.   They are starting to eat more of the hard food/greens, so hopefully they will not be so dependent on the milk.

5/6/09
Here is a picture of Jackie's babies I am hand rearing.   They have just had some of their milk from a spoon.   They seem to be feeding well but not really growing much yet, so hope they will be ok.

1/6/09
My friend Jackie had a horrible day yesterday, she lost a sow to a prolapse uterus when the sow had 3 babies.   One large baby was dead but there are 2 very cute babies left.   A very sweet chocolate self sow and a black dalmatian boar.   I am going to hand rear them for her, could be a long job, but I will try.   I have put them in with Leia and Tango who both took to them straight away, very sweet.    These babies are related to many of my pigs, these include, Aero, Jack and Crystal, and also Jackie's fox boar that I have used, Pedro.   Well I will try my best, and hope they will be ok.
