I
thought I would put together a bit of information about guinea pigs
that I have sold on to new homes and what they have been up to.
This is Popcorn. He is son of Badger and Sweep and I sold him to a daughter of a good friend of the family. He comes back to stay in the holidays and is a lovely large pig. He lives with another rex boar originally from Smithville Stud.
This was Clifford. He was son of Chalkie and Sweep (full brother to Tim and Aero but older). He was a lovely pig and really huge, probably the biggest pig I have ever bred. He came to stay often in the holidays but has recently died, he will be greatly missed. He did produce some babies, as I borrowed him once for breeding when he came to stay and there is a picture of his daughters below.
This is Ruby and Treacle. They are daughters of Clifford and a lemon/lilac argente sow I had called Honey. They are lovely big girls (like their dad) and come back to stay in the holidays.
This is Otis. He is son of Badger and Sweep and is full brother to my dalmatian sow Minstrel. I sold him to Jo at Wheekster Cavies. He has been shown a lot and won lots of prizes for best beige. Have a look at Jo's website for his successes. Well done Otis!
Very said news, Jo has told me that poor Otis had some kidney stone problems and has died, that is a really shame, he won so many rosettes and trophies for her, he will be greatly missed. RIP lovely Otis.
This is Ollie, he is brother of Leia and Topsy and now lives with Tracey at Comfy Cavies. He has grown into a lovely boar and I know that Tracey has shown him and bred from him and he has produced some lovely babies.
Here is a picture of him with his trophy and rosette, he won best New Variety at the Sandon show on 4th July 2009, well done Ollie.
I decided to have Lucy put to sleep in June 2009. She had just
had some babies from
Jack but developed toxaemia and would not eat or
drinking anything even from me trying to hand feed her, she was in a
very bad way. I took her to the vet to have her PTS. They called me
later that day to ask me if it was ok for one of the veterinary nurses
called Catherine to try to save her. I agreed to this, thought it
would be much better to try rather than have her PTS. Well I found
out that Lucy made it and is now paired up with another sow and called
Miss Pigglie. That is great news, so a sad story turned into a happy one and she will have a happy life with her new friend Dougal. Here they are together.
Here is a picture of Ainsley (who I hand reared) and the boar from Milly's last litter, now called Mr Button. They have gone to live with Anna and her family down in Cornwall. She has sent me this picture and told me they have settled in really well. Mr Button has really grown, I think he is going to be quite a big boar.
